As a M.S. Biology student in the Medina-Bolivar lab, Patrick’s research focuses on the analysis of stilbenoid compounds that are produced in response to stress in peanut hairy root tissue cultures. He uses a variety of tools in analytical chemistry—including HPLC and HPCCC—to analyze, separate, and purify specific stilbenoid compounds contained within extracts. Furthermore, he is actively involved in characterizing the anti-obesity properties of these compounds through using the 3T3-L1 adipocyte cell line.
